| Whipping Floyd is the brand Martin Gustavsson and Magnus Heed have created in 2001, with much of their inspiration coming from the great boxing matches of the past. On June 26, 1959, Swedish boxer Ingemar Johansson became the world heavyweight champion after beating American Floyd Patterson. Johansson was the first Swedish World Champion, but he was also the first European in 26 years to recover the title from America; a feat that made him an overnight celebrity on the Old Continent. Whipping Floyd takes its inspiration from sports, music, and popular culture. The first collections had T-shirts as their main focus, but the brand now does full range collections and is present in 25 different countries. Every season has a theme based on some "True Story", and is characterised by unique graphics and bright colours. The collection is divided into a T-shirts line and a full range line. |
